Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station to begin planned maintenance outage.

Fredericton, N.B. – On November 15, 2023, the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station (PLNGS) will be taken offline to begin a planned maintenance outage that is currently estimated to take approximately one week.  

This maintenance outage will upgrade key plant monitoring equipment that is only accessible when the Station is offline. 

Planned outages of this nature are key investments to ensure the long-term reliability of PLNGS to meet the energy needs of New Brunswickers. 

About the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station  

The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station is a 660 megawatt (net) nuclear generating station and a base load contributor to the New Brunswick electrical grid. It is a major component of NB Power’s generating assets and contributes to NB Power sourcing approximately 80 per cent of the electricity used in New Brunswick from clean, renewable or non-emitting sources.  In 2022/23, it represented approximately 33 per cent of the total net generation from NB Power generating stations.
