NB Power’s first grid-connected, 1.63 megawatt (MW) solar farm is designed to provide clean electricity to the Shediac Multipurpose Centre and the Government of Canada Pension Centre, two net-zero buildings within town limits.  Excess electricity will flow into the community via Shediac’s distribution system. The solar farm sits on just over four hectares of land and includes large-scale battery storage capacity. The solar farm was fully commissioned in February 2023.

Partners for this project include the Town of Shediac, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC).
