Planned Outage Text Alerts

Stay informed about planned power outages

Sometimes planned maintenance requires a short power outage—but with text alerts, you’ll know about them well ahead of time. Signing up helps you plan your day, avoid surprises, and stay prepared.

Why sign up?

Get advance notice: We’ll text you three business days before any planned work that could affect your power.

Plan your day: Whether it’s work, school, or home routines, you’ll have time to adjust.

Know what’s happening: Stay updated about maintenance in your area.

What you’ll receive

  • A text message when a planned outage is scheduled
  • A start and end time
  • A message if the outage is cancelled or rescheduled

Text alerts are available for planned outages only. Unplanned outage text alerts will be introduced following the successful implementation of planned outage alerts and grid modernization system improvements.

How planned outage text alerts work

  • Alerts are sent to the Outage phone number on your NB Power online account
  • The outage phone number must be a mobile number
  • Message frequency varies depending on the planned work in your area
  • NB Power does not charge for text alerts, however message and data rates may apply

Text alerts vs automated calls

Automated phone calls remain the default notification method.

If you choose Planned Outage Text Alerts, you will no longer receive automated phone calls for planned outages. You can change your preference at any time through your NB Power online account.

Note: Priority customers who opt into text alerts will continue to receive phone call notifications

Not receiving text alerts?

  • Make sure your Outage phone number is up to date with your preferred mobile phone number
  • Confirm your alert preferences in your online account
