Project Options and Analysis 2013-2016
In anticipation of a major project at the Mactaquac Generating Station, NB Power began consulting in 2013 with engineers, scientists, stakeholders, the public and First Nations on potential future options.
The options included a full rebuild, removal of some structures, full dam removal and river restoration, and life achievement through modified maintenance and equipment replacement. In 2016, NB Power's management and Board of Directors recommended life achievement as the best future option for the station.
